Improving literacy in our community through home, school and community collaboration. Literacy development goes far beyond formal learning and education. Parents, schools and communities in London are working together to build literacy skills in our children and youth that will help them to be successful in school and in life.

Our Literacy Team’s awareness and advocacy initiatives support families and children of all ages, helping to make literacy a way of life. The Baby’s Book Bag and literacy-rich waiting rooms in medical offices, for example, promote literacy from birth. Other initiatives focus on helping youth pass the Grade 10 Literacy Test, and promoting family and community involvement in developing literacy.
